Sport Complex You Have Seen in Call of Duty
Pripyat city had well developed sport infrastructure. On the roof of the hospital people could read that the health of the population is a treasure of the state. All over the city there were places created to give the opportunity to the people to strengthen their health and simply to have a good time staying within the limits of communist morality.
There were several stadiums in the city. The biggest one was build next to the amusement park. Opening ceremony was planned for the 1st of May, 1986. Unfortunately, the accident destroyed the plans and the stadium was never in use.
There was a gym in the palace of culture. There were several sport complexes all over the city. However, the most attractive one is Pripyat swimming pool “Azure”. It is located on Sportivnaya Street next to the school no.3. Apart from indoor pool, it had a sport hall for basketball games and other trainings. Pripyat pool was used for competitions of the school and colleges teams.
Unlike all the other sport complexes, it wasn’t abandoned after the evacuation of population. It was decided to keep it in use for the liquidators and workers of the exclusion zone. It was regularly decontaminated. The floor was covered with plastic so that it would be easier to clean it up from the particles if there were any brought from the outside. In the end of 1997, it was closed and today big pool in Pripyat is abandoned as the rest of sport facilities.
