
Ukraine has received 15 million euros from donor countries for the restoration of the Chernobyl exclusion zone. In total, international partners are expected to provide 225 million euros.
This was announced by the head of the State Agency of Ukraine for the Management of the Exclusion Zone, Yevhen Kramarenko, according to Ukrinform.
“We have jointly developed a restoration plan with the Ministry of Environment, which we are currently approving at the state level. It has been agreed with the donors and is already being funded. The measures to restore the exclusion zone with the help of the international community are starting to be implemented,” Kramarenko said.
He also clarified that the restoration plan consists of 9 points, it is estimated at 225 million euros, although the losses from the occupation amount to about 100 million euros.
They plan not only to restore normal functioning, but also to improve the work of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and create a scientific hub on the territory of the exclusion zone.
It is reported that as part of the plan, radiation control has already been successfully restored at the checkpoints, licensing activities of enterprises for handling radioactive waste have been partially restored, computer equipment has been partially restored, and firefighting equipment has been obtained to partially replace stolen equipment.
